Pink fan furious after being told newborn required $180 ticket to attend singer’s Sydney show.
A Sydney family was left furious after it was suggested they needed to buy a $180 ticket for their newborn to attend Pink’s concert.
A family was left furious after it was suggested they needed to buy a $180 ticket for their 9-week-old baby if they were bringing the newborn to Pink’s concert in Sydney.
A Sydney man, who chose to remain anonymous, told that he had messaged Accor Stadium via Messenger asking whether his sister could bring a nappy bag along with her baby to Pink’s show, given bags are restricted to small sizes only.
The ticketholder said he, his sister and their extended family were all attending the pop star’s Summer Carnival concert and therefore they had no one else to look after his sister’s newborn child.
But when the man reached out to Accor asking about the nappy bag, he was not expecting the response he got.
“Can you tell me whether we will be allowed to bring a nappy bag? Also, just confirming [the baby] won’t need a ticket?” the man wrote in his message, to which Accor replied: “There is no issue bringing a nappy bag, but all attendees must have a ticket to enter, regardless of age.”
When the man pointed out that the concert was a sold-out event and it was “disgraceful” they were required to get a ticket for a newborn who was “going to be in a baby carrier or on my sister’s chest”, Accor doubled down.
“That is correct and the age policy set for this show by the promoter,” the stadium representative said.
However, Accor has since done a backflip after the man approached 7NEWS.com.au with his story and screenshots of the message exchange.
The stadium is now allowing the baby free entry and have even upgraded the family’s seats and parking closer to the stadium.
“They have moved my tickets closer to the event due to the issue and have given me closer parking too,” the ticketholder told the outlet, saying it was a “wonderful outcome”.
Accor’s website states that for “most sporting events very young children, 3 and under, may be admitted free-of-charge on the provision they are accompanied by an adult and will share their seat and sit on their knee”.
This was the case when the man and his entire family attended the Jonas Brothers concert at the neighbouring Qudos Bank Arena earliest this month.
“[Qudos] were accommodating and supportive, allowing my sister to bring her baby and nappy bag in, but Accor are being extremely difficult,” he said before the issue was resolved.
The man believed that Pink – a mother of two – “wouldn’t be happy” if she knew about the issue.
