Change

Change was an Italian-American Disco/R&B group formed in 1979 in Bologna, Italy by the creative genius of businessman and executive producer Jacques Fred Petrus (1949-1986) and Mauro Malavasi.

The band had huge success across Europe in the 80’s and this double CD contains all of the band’s major hits, as well as those mixes and tracks considered essential for the serious collector, including 2 previously unreleased tracks.

The digipak also contains a 32-page booklet about the band’s history. The band’s debut album, The Glow Of Love, was released in 1980 and included the million-seller “A Lover’s Holiday”. The album’s follow-up hits “Searching” and the title track feature lead vocals from the then unknown Luther Vandross.

The three songs combined spent 9 weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Disco charts, enough to make it the #1 Disco album of the year and a million-seller in the US. The follow-up album, Miracles, included the hits “Paradise”, “Hold Tight” and “Heaven Of My Life”, which spent a combined 6 weeks at the number one spot on the Billboard Disco chart in 1981. With the help of rising producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, the group re-established themselves with their first top ten R&B hit in three years with the title track from their Change Of Heart album in 1984.

The following year, the band released their final album, Turn On Your Radio, which featured the minor hit “Let’s Go Together”. 2010 – The 80’s group CHANGE is back!!!! New album “Change Your Mind” The album is arranged and conducted by Davide Romani and produced by Davide Romani and Francesco Puccioni.

Many of the songs were co-written by Davide Romani, Mike Francis and Patrick Boothe. The excellent production carries a typical early ’90s R&B sound, more related to the British style than the American variety.

British member Patrick Boothe is the main vocalist involved and he does the job with enthusiasm and background by Lisa Fischer. Highlights include a great version of Mike Francis’ “Friends”, the vocally impressive ballad “If Only I Could Change Your Mind”, the beautiful mid-tempo beater “Way You Want Me” and the Marvin Gaye song “I Want You”.

Other highlights on the album include “Say What You Wanna Say”, “Losing Me Again”, “Happy Ending” and “Things We Do For Love”.
