Shalamar

Shalamar was originally consisted of Gary Mumford, Jody Watley, and Jeffrey Daniels.
In 1977, before the group was even named, they made a medley called “Uptown festival”, with hits of the golden years of Motown.

But they would achive real fame when Gary left and entered Howard Hewett, and many songs went to the charts.

Their first huge hit was “Take that to the bank” in 1978. In 1979, followed their next smash hit, maybe their biggest in the 70’s: “Second time around”.

The 80’s came and the best was yet to come. Charted “Full of fire” in 1980. In 1981, one of my favorites: “Make that move”, maybe one of the best Jody Watley’s performance in the group. Finally in 1982, the last disco year, Shalamar had their greatest hit of all time: “A night to remember”.

Their best song for far. Everything is perfect, from Jody’s vocals to the untouchable and unique instrumental set.

In 1984, Jody Watley and Jeffrey Daniels left the group, and Micki Free and Delisa Davis took part of Shalamar. The hits were “Over and Over” and “Dancing in the sheets”, from the soundtrack of the movie “Footloose”

The group split in 1990 with Sidney Justin, Delisa Davis and Micki Free, and no more hits.
