Snoop Dogg is releasing his new gospel album Altar Call in April. The 53-year-old American rapper is paying tribute to his late mother, Beverly Tate, with the album.

On April 27, I’m releasing a gospel album on Death Row Records. It’s called Altar Call, Snoop Dogg says in a video on Instagram. You’ll be the first to hear it. God is good. What a blessing, right?

A photo of his mother forms the artwork of the new album. Tate passed away in 2021.

Altar Call is the rapper’s 21st studio album and contains 21 songs. Snoop Dogg collaborated with Jamie Foxx, Jazze Pha and Jane Handcock, among others, for his album.

It’s not the first time that the rapper has released a gospel album. In 2018, the album Bible of Love was released.

Snoop Dogg broke through in 1993 with the hit Who Am I (What’s My Name)? He enjoyed success in the years that followed with songs such as Drop It Like It’s Hot, Nuthin’ But A “G” Thang and Young, Wild & Free.
