New York Yankees Baseball Players

Baseball players of the MLB club New York Yankees are now allowed to grow beards. That was prohibited at the illustrious club for almost fifty years.

The ban on wearing a beard was instituted 49 years ago by then-owner George Steinbrenner, who died in 2010.

He was known for his authoritarian rule and wanted everyone to conform to the image of the club.

According to Steinbrenner, this included the fact that no Yankees player was allowed to have facial hair. The only exception was a moustache.

Son Hal Steinbrenner is now putting an end to that.

Over the past few weeks, I have spoken with numerous club people, from all decades, to hear their views on our ban on facial hair, says Steinbrenner.

We have been having that discussion for a number of years. Ultimately, I have the final say and I have decided that our players and other uniformed personnel are now allowed to grow a well-groomed beard.

It is appropriate to abandon our old policy.

Ban often caused a stir

The ban often caused a stir in recent years. For example, the first question new signings were usually what they were going to do with their beards.

This also applied to Devin Williams, who wore a large beard at Milwaukee Brewers games last season.

He will play for the New York Yankees from next season and only had a moustache and stubble in the presentation photos of his new club.

The New York Yankees is one of the most famous and successful clubs in the United States.

The club has won the World Series no less than 27 times and was the losing finalist last season.

The club is currently preparing for the new season.
