Taylor Swift Announces New Album

Taylor Swift’s twelfth studio album is called The Life of a Showgirl. The American singer announced this on Monday night at 12:12 PM (local time in the US). The album’s release date has not yet been announced.

A countdown clock to the specific time previously appeared on Swift’s website. Shortly before the announcement, the page was changed to a vibrant orange design.

Shortly after the announcement, the site was temporarily down, The Guardian reports. The album is the follow-up to 2024’s The Tortured Poets Department.

The album does not yet have an official release date. The website states that shipping will take place before October 13th, but emphasizes that this is not the actual release date.

Swift announced the album in a segment on New Heights, the podcast by her partner Travis Kelce and his brother Jason.

In a segment from the episode, which airs Wednesday, the singer shows a mint green suitcase with her initials in orange lettering.

“I want to show you something,” she says, after which Swift reveals that it’s her new album. The album cover remained unrecognizable.

This is Swift’s first major announcement since the end of her Eras Tour in December 2024.

The tour, which lasted nearly two years and included 149 concerts, sold more than $2 billion in tickets, according to American media, and is considered the highest-grossing tour of all time.
