Chris Brown Remains In Custody

Chris Brown will remain in custody until June 13, the BBC reported Friday. The American singer is suspected of aggravated assault with premeditation.

Brown was arrested in a Manchester hotel on Thursday for allegedly hitting a music producer with a tequila bottle in a London nightclub in February 2023.

The alleged victim sued Brown for the assault in October 2023. He demanded $15 million (more than €13 million) in damages for the physical and emotional harm suffered. That case is still ongoing.

Brown had to appear before a police judge in Manchester today. The judge found the nature of the crime too serious to handle himself and transferred the case to Southwark Crown Court in London. The singer is due to appear there on June 13.

Brown, known for hits such as Loyal and Run It, was due to start a world tour next month.

The 36-year-old artist has been linked to violent incidents before. In 2009, he was convicted of assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna. And in 2017, he was given a restraining order for allegedly threatening his ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran.
