Robbie Williams developed scurvy last year due to a vitamin deficiency. He was eating poorly because he was taking appetite suppressants to lose weight. The singer told The Mirror.
I had stopped eating and I wasn’t getting any nutrients, says Williams. Due to the lack of vitamin C, he developed scurvy.
People with scurvy suffer from swelling and bleeding of the gums, petechiae (bleeding under the skin), weakness, stiff and painful limbs and internal bleeding. It is not a specific abdominal condition.
The 51-year-old Briton describes it as a seventeenth-century pirate disease. Scurvy is a disease that was common among sailors in past centuries.
Williams often struggles with his weight. The singer once said that he called himself Blobby Williams because he thought he wasn’t thin enough.
