Colleagues Honor Tate Actor Val Kilmer

Several colleagues have reacted with shock to the death of Val Kilmer. The American actor, known for Batman and Top Gun, died on Tuesday at the age of 65.

Michael Mann, who directed Heat (1995) in which Kilmer played a role, remembers the actor as someone who brought a powerful current to the film. After all those years in which Val fought illness, this is extremely sad news.

Josh Brolin, a good friend of the actor, posts a photo of himself with Kilmer on Instagram. Goodbye, buddy. I’m going to miss you. You were a smart, challenging, brave and creative bomb of fire.

There’s not much left of that. I hope to see you up there in heaven when I finally get there. Until then, I cherish the great memories.

Tom Cruise, who appeared with Kilmer in Top Gun, calls the actor a unique soul. A brilliant actor and a loyal friend, he writes on Instagram. I’m going to miss him.

Josh Gad also paid tribute on Instagram. He posted a photo of Kilmer as Tom ‘Iceman’ Kazansky from Top Gun. Thank you for defining so many of the movies of my childhood. You were truly an icon.

Kilmer was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014. The actor eventually recovered from the disease. According to his daughter, he died of pneumonia.
