Lizzo First Leading Role In Film
Lizzo plays the leading role in the film Rosetta, about the American guitarist and singer Rosetta Tharpe.
The American singer is also one of the producers of the film. It is the first leading role for the 36-year-old Lizzo.
The film is based on true events from Tharpe’s life. She became famous in the thirties and forties with her rhythmic gospel music and had a great influence on rock ‘n’ roll artists such as Johnny Cash, Chuck Berry and Elvis Presley.
The film focuses on an important period in Tharpe’s life. For example, she had to survive in a society with many restrictions and hide her love for another woman.
Her marriage to manager Russell Morrison is also discussed. In 1951, her wedding in Griffith Stadium in the American capital Washington attracted around 25,000 paying spectators.
The production of the film is currently in development. Lizzo is also one of the producers of Rosetta.
In 2019, she had a supporting role in the film Hustlers and in 2023, she appeared in an episode of the Star Wars series The Mandalorian on Disney+.
Lizzo is best known as a singer.
She broke through in 2019 with hits such as Truth Hurts and Juice.
