Millie Bobby Brown thinks journalists should stop criticizing her appearance in their articles.
In a video on Instagram, the 21-year-old actress speaks of “bullying” and the disparaging of young women.
I want to take a moment to think about something bigger than me, says Brown in the video. “I started in this industry when I was ten years old and grew up in front of the world.
But for some reason, people don’t seem to grow up with me. They think I should still look like I did in the first season of Stranger Things.”
The actress, who is also known for films such as Enola Holmes, Damsel and Godzilla II: King of the Monsters, then names a few headlines she has seen.
Why is Generation Z, including Millie Bobby Brown, aging so ugly?” and “What did Millie Bobby Brown do to her face?
This is not journalism. This is bullying, Brown continues. The fact that adults spend their time dissecting my face, my body, and my choices is disturbing.
The actress also names the journalists responsible for the articles. Brown finds it hard to understand that there are women among them.
We always talk about supporting and lifting up young women. But when it comes to that, they are put down.
The actress ends with a clear message.
I refuse to apologize for growing up. I refuse to shrink myself to meet the unrealistic expectations of people who do not want to accept a girl becoming a woman.
