Pharrell Williams has come up with the name Riot for Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s second child. The singer tells Harper’s Bazaar.

The name refers to the song Riot (Rowdy Pipe’n), which Williams wrote together with A$AP Rocky, the father of Rihanna’s children.

In the song, which was released in 2023, A$AP Rocky raps about Rihanna, among other things.

Pharrell is really deep, says the singer.

He doesn’t stick to the surface. He will never just say something and leave it at that. Rihanna previously explained that Riot’s middle name, Rose, was chosen because A$AP Rocky likes flowers.

Riot was born in August 2023. Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have been together since 2020 and have another son, RZA, who was named after the co-founder of the hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan.

Williams has also incorporated the name of one of his own children into a song.

The artist wrote the song Rocket’s Theme for the popular film Despicable Me, referring to his first son Rocket who was born in 2008.

Williams and his wife Helen Lasichanh have triplets in addition to Rocket.
