Max Verstappen Will Not Skip Any Races
Max Verstappen will not skip any races to attend the birth of his first child.
His girlfriend Kelly Piquet is expected to give birth during the upcoming Formula 1 season.
There is a chance that the reigning world champion will be away on holiday.
Of course I could skip a race, but I won’t, Verstappen said on Tuesday before the big Formula 1 presentation in London. That is not part of being a racing driver.
So it is possible that I will not be there. But we will see when it gets closer, said the 27-year-old from Limburg.
According to the four-time world champion, the pregnancy is going without any problems. I am quite relaxed about it. It will all work out fine.
Verstappen already has a good idea of fatherhood, because his girlfriend has a child from her previous relationship with Formula 1 driver Daniil Kvyat.
Daughter Penelope lives with Verstappen and Piquet in Monaco.
Verstappen’s 25-year-old sister Victoria also has children. In addition, his father Jos had another son in 2019.
So it helps that I have a little insight into how that works. But of course it remains exciting, Verstappen concluded.
The Formula 1 season starts on March 16 in Melbourne, Australia, the start of a 24-race calendar.
Verstappen defends his world title and does so again in a Red Bull Racing car.
