New Buffy Series

Sarah Michelle Gellar, who broke through in the nineties with the series about vampire hunter Buffy, has responded for the first time to the reports that a new series is in the making.

The actress stated on Instagram that the Buffy reboot is being made “for the fans” and that the new series “will only happen if we can do it right”.

Zhao, known for the film Nomadland. Zhao is said to have been commissioned by streaming service Hulu to make a pilot, a test episode to see if a project appeals to the public. Sarah Michelle Gellar played Buffy in seven seasons between 1996 and 2003. She would play a supporting role in the new Buffy. The makers are looking for a new ‘vampire slayer’ for the lead role.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Buffy the Vampire Slayer was about a teenage girl who hunted vampires. “Three years ago, I got a call that Chloé wanted to talk to me about a possible reboot of Buffy,” Sarah Michelle Gellar wrote on Instagram. “I was completely blown away that someone like Chloé even knew who I was. But I said what I’ve been saying for years: that I didn’t see the show needing to be revived.”

Making it happen
Still, Zhao managed to convince the actress. “What we agreed to do was a quick coffee and it turned into a four-hour meeting,” the Buffy star said. “We laughed, we cried. But most of all, we told each other how much the show meant to both of us.”

Gellar emphasizes that “we’re not there yet. It’s a long process and we’re only going to do this if we can do it right. But we’ve found a path to get there. This reboot is for the fans. I’ve heard all your wishes and I hope we can make it happen.”
