Win Butler and Régine Chassagne of the Canadian band Arcade Fire are separating after 22 years. “After a long and loving marriage, Win and Régine have decided to divorce,” the band wrote on Instagram. The Arcade Fire tour will continue for the time being.
“The band sends their love and looks forward to seeing you on tour soon,” they wrote. No tour dates have been announced yet.
Butler and Chassagne will also continue their support for the charity KANPE, which they co-founded. The organization was established to combat poverty in Haiti, where Chassagne’s parents are from.
Arcade Fire was founded in 2001 by Butler and Josh Deu during their college years. Later that year, they met Chassagne, a jazz singer and music student, and formed Arcade Fire. Butler and Chassagne tied the knot in 2003 and had a son in 2013.
Butler has been accused by five women of sexual misconduct, including assault and an unequal power dynamic.
Chassagne has previously expressed her support for Butler.
