Jesse Eisenberg will undergo surgery in December to donate a kidney. The American actor revealed on Thursday’s talk show “Today” that he is donating his kidney to someone he doesn’t know.
The surgery is scheduled for mid-December. It’s a so-called altruistic donation, meaning there’s no relationship between the donor and the recipient.
“I’m so excited,” said the 42-year-old Eisenberg. “I don’t know why. I’ve been bitten by the blood donation bug. It’s essentially risk-free and therefore necessary.
I think people will realize it’s a no-brainer if you have the time and the inclination.”
The actor also said his action will mean his family will be given priority for any future kidney transplants.
Eisenberg rose to fame with his starring role in The Social Network. He also appeared in films like Now You See Me and Zombieland.
