Demi Lovato Regrets
Demi Lovato regrets not protecting her younger sister Madison De La Garza more when she was criticized for her appearance. The singer was too focused on her own career, she says on the podcast Las Culturistas.
“I was just starting out, and my family and I were new to this industry,” says Lovato.
De La Garza made her acting debut at age seven on Desperate Housewives. Her character’s appearance and weight were frequently discussed on the show.
The now 23-year-old actress later revealed that the negative comments and online hate led her to struggle with an eating disorder.
“It was a difficult role for her, and I regret that,” says Lovato. “There was a lot of focus on her body on the show, and I think that’s terrible.”
The 33-year-old Lovato released her ninth studio album, It’s Not That Deep, on Friday. It’s the American singer’s first album in three years.
