Lorde On Gender Identity:
Lorde identifies as a woman and wants to be addressed that way. But the New Zealand singer says she is increasingly comfortable with the fluidity of her gender.
Some days I’m a woman, some days I’m a man.
Lorde says she is in the middle in terms of gender. The 28-year-old singer referred to a conversation with Chappell Roan, with whom she is good friends, in which she was asked if she is non-binary. I’m a woman, except on the days I’m a man, Lorde replied.
I know that’s not a very satisfying answer, Lorde says in conversation with Rolling Stone. But there’s a part of me that really resists being pigeonholed into one.
Lorde, known for hits like Royals and Green Light, broke through in 2013 at the age of 16. Her album Pure Heroine was streamed hundreds of millions of times on Spotify.
Lorde will release her new album Virgin on June 27. It is her first new work in four years.
