Dawn Robinson Has Been Living In Car

Dawn Robinson, former member of the American R&B group En Vogue, has been living in a car for three years. The singer says this in a YouTube video. Robinson has not had a permanent place of residence since 2020.

Robinson lived with her parents in Las Vegas, but moved to Los Angeles on the advice of her former manager.

Although he initially offered her shelter, this arrangement fell apart. The singer was forced to live in a hotel for eight months while she looked for an apartment.

Robinson, 58, says that her then manager worked against her in this. Sometimes people want to hold you down and keep you in a situation where you are vulnerable and dependent on them, she says.

Due to difficulties in finding a house, the singer started looking for other options. That is how she became interested in living in a car. I felt free, she says. It was like I was on an endless camping trip. It just felt good.

However, Robinson would accept a more stable living situation if the opportunity arose. If I could have an apartment, I would. But I wouldn’t trade what I learned from this experience. I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished.

Robinson was one of the original members of En Vogue, which was founded in 1989.

The group scored big hits in the nineties with the songs Don’t Let Go, Hold On, Free Your Mind, Whatta Man and My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It).

The American group still tours regularly, but has been doing so for years without Robinson.
